About Young Gun Junior Golf Equipment
Aussie Junior Pro is an Australian owned and operated company. We formed in 1997, after realising there was no golf equipment in the market to cater for junior golfers.
In recent years junior golf equipment has come a long way . Gone are the days when young golfers had to use mum or Dad’s old clubs that had been cut down to size. Juniors need a set of golf clubs that is made with their bodies in mind. Today there are many brands available. Young Gun clubs offer a wide range of clubs right or left handed to suit juniors from 3 years up and can be purchased individually or in sets. The heads are lightweight and made from stainless steel for durability.
There are a few things to remember when buying junior clubs.
It is important to find a set of clubs that is the right length for the junior golfer, but also a set that the junior can grow with. Remember that it is OK for the junior to grip down on the club. You just don't want them to move their hands down the grip too much. Young Gun clubs come in four age group lengths. 3+, 6+, 8+ & 10 +
The main problem with cut-down clubs for juniors is the stiffness of the shafts. When you take 3-6 inches of length off a golf club, you make the shaft extremely stiff. This explains why juniors using cut-down clubs are not able to get any height on their shots. Young Gun shafts are specifically made for each age group.
If the club is overly heavy, the child will struggle to take the club to the top of the backswing and give an uncontrolled forward swing. Specifically weighted clubs will help the junior get the club in the correct position at the top of the swing, and lead to an easily repeatable swing.
In previous years, when cutting down a club they used any grip that would fit the shaft. But oversized grips cause the same problems for juniors as they do for adult golfers. When a grip feels like a baseball bat, it will change the swing mechanics.
As parents and coaches, we realize how tough golf can be and how much the right equipment is important to our game. With this in mind when buying junior golf clubs, you will help your junior play better golf, and have more fun on the golf course by selecting the correct equipment.
